Promoting sustainable artisanal and small-scale mining

Our mineral rich continent and countries still report host community poverty, conflict and high degradation. Both, mining companies, government agencies and the immediate communities are yet to ensure sustainable mining and mineral sector development. This happens due to several reasons such as the existing legislation and policy framework, skills, capital, infrastructure gaps, or the general weaknesses in enforcement.

This program seeks to achieve sustainability in , and the nature friendliness of the sector.

This also includes ensuring that portions of the earnings from the sector are re-invested into mitigating environmental damage, ensuring immediate communities do not suffer from multi-dimensional poverty and other social transformation limiting lifestyles, that further degradation.
